I was born in the mountains of North Carolina. We have four children (two of his and two of mine). We have seven grand children and four great grand children. I am still working (Verizon Business) and don’t have plans for retirement, as of yet.
I fell in love with Bossons when I was living on base at Ft. Bragg, NC, where one of my neighbors had a whole wall of “heads”. I had never seen anything so real life. In July 1977, we took a trip to St. Augustine, FL to see the tourist sights. We went to see the Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum and of course, you had to exit through the gift shop. Low and behold, there on a wall were Bossons. I was so excited that I bought about twenty and took them home to NC. In December 1977, we moved to Tampa, FL. I have gotten Bossons from all over – just to name a few places - Paris, England, St. Louis, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, Florida, Las Vegas, MacDill BX, friends and last, but not least Ebay.
Norm saw a pamphlet in a box when we bought a “head” in Clearwater. He thought he would get me a membership to IBCS as a Christmas present. But when the certificate came it was for Norm Derocher. He contacted Kathy Davis and was told he would need to buy another membership, which he did. I finally got my IBCS membership # 2452 at Christmas 1993.
After becoming a member, Col. Bill Bell called Norm and told him we needed to come to a Florida Bossons Collectors meeting. And this is how I (we) got started meeting our wonderful Bossons Family.
